I love this Christmas song – I love the words and the sentiment that regardless of what might be going on in our lives we might be able to put that aside for a few days and focus on the good things such as family and friends. This last year has been a very difficult one for some of my close friends and one which will be remembered as anything but a merry time.

However, they are always moments of lightness, as the song says. In whatever circumstances we find ourselves in we can recall times of joy and peace. I am hoping that for those who are particularly struggling this Christmas that they will find solace in this time – whether through friends, family, moments of peace and hope, or just the fact that the Christmas Season is about being together with those who we can be with.

There are many versions of this song but here are two I particularly like – Michael Buble and Lady Antebellums’ versions.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light.
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay.
From now on, our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more.
Through the years we all will be together,
Should the fates allow.
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
Any have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

So, find ways to have a merry little Christmas in whatever way you can……
