The importance of sleep

Some of you may be heading back to school after the half-term, others (like myself) are still enjoying the lazy get up times of holidays. Of course, with my teenagers it’s hard to get them out of bed now at the best of times, but this week especially has been difficult as they relish in the later bedtimes and longer lie ins.

Sleep is such an important part of our overall health and something that we don’t talk about much. It’s something I’ve been conscious of over the last few months as I’ve had a persistent cough that’s kept me up and it’s had an impact on my ability to function somedays. Also, of course we know that certain things like watching our screens or drinking alcohol or caffeine before bedtime won’t help us – yet we still do it!

Anyway – today I’d like to point you to a guest blog post from a group called Yoo Health.com. It is a comprehensive guide on sleep deprivation, including causes, symptoms and treatment. I hope you enjoy it and find it as helpful as I have.
